Desert Island Top 10 #1
So there is this book I like called High Fidelity. In this book, the main character has an obsession with making Desert Island Top Ten lists. You know, like “Top Ten books I would want with me if I was stranded on a desert island.” That kinda thing. I have read this book eight times, and so now I have a sort of obsession with it too. So this is something I am gonna do every Monday, a new lists. Let’s start out with a very obvious one first.
In no particular order….
Desert Island Top Ten Favorite Bands (Right Now)
-The Rolling Stone. Will. Always. Be. On. Every. Great. Musical. List. I. Make.
-Say Anything. My favorite little known band ever. I sing loudly to all of their songs.
-Less Than Jake. Usually can cheer me up from a bad mood. You can’t be grumpy when there are both horns and silly, yet meaningful lyrics.
-Jimmy Eat World. They got soul. They got guitars. They got awesome songs. And it is taking a lot of self restraint to not put “have” in between “they” and “got”, just for the sake of being cool.
-Kanye West. Because even if he is sort of a jerk sometimes, I love him. And somehow, I can’t live without rap.
-Jay-Z. Because he is simply awesome. And again, because I need some ghetto on my desert island.
-Elton John. Classic piano. Wonderful songs. How could I not bring him along?
-Garth Brooks. Just need some country, and if you are gonna bring it, why not bring the best? Maybe the country can battle the rap for my entertainment.
-Tom Petty. Even if he is a bit creepy looking, he is still way awesome, and I have loved his since the age of six.
-Jonas Brothers. Kidding. Eric Clapton. He can play the guitar better than anyone (I think). If I bring him along, I get not only his stuff, but Cream as well. So it is a bonus. Plus, he is a Jesus loving guitar man, so he could probably sing me some awesome Christian stuff.
Here are some sidenotes. I would be bringing the artists, rather than just a collection of their music. Also, I have noticed that I would be the only female on this island. Women, Asians, and Hispanics are way under represented. Also, I had to look up how to spell “desert”. I can never remember desert vs. dessert. Ok, that’s all for now.
Gimme your desert island top ten, please.
